DOMESTIC AIR TRAVEL TO RESUME FROM 25th MAY’ 2020.

As per the order issued by ‘Ministry of Civil Aviation’ (MOCA), Dated 20th May’ 2020, the Govt. has decided to restart the DOMESTIC air travel of passengers in India with effect from 25th May’ 2020.


Domestic and International Air Travel of passengers has been prohibited since 25th March’ 2020 after the nationwide Lockdown was announced by the GOI due to COVID 19 Pandemic.


Keeping in view the COVID 19 pandemic prevailing in the country & safety of passengers, MOCA will issue some General Guidelines for commencement of Domestic air travel and to be followed by all the passengers traveling. Accordingly, some Operating Guidelines will also been issued to be complied by major Stakeholders like Airlines, Airport Operators, Ground Handling Agencies etc.


As per the airlines officials, Bookings are expected to commence from tomorrow morning i.e. 22nd May’ 2020. All airports will remain operational in a calibrated manner with limited operations (around 1/3rd) to be permitted.


We welcome the government’s decision to recommence domestic civil aviation operations from May 25. This resumption will go a long way in lifting the overall

economic sentiment in the country. While the SOP for resumption of operations and details of flights to be operated is still awaited, we are sure that this much-awaited move will help a large number of passengers by providing them

access to the safest and quickest means of transport," Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, SpiceJet, said.

He also said SpiceJet will "strictly adhere to social distancing norms and SOPs laid down by the government to ensure the best, the cleanest and the most sanitised flying experience."
